The 2021 Christmas Tree Festival will take place from Friday 19th to Tuesday 23rd November. That’s the weekend of the town’s Christmas Fair. Plans are taking shape, read on for more information and photos of previous years’ festivals.
A highlight of the 2019 festival was the Saturday night Come & Sing concert – a scratch choir of nearly 50 singers with the wonderful Ross Town Band.
We’re back on again in 2021, so here goes:
Entering a tree in the 2021 festival
We welcome offers from any business, organisation or individual wishing to display a tree in the 2021 Festival. There’s no charge for this and no particular requirements other than that you bring it along and decorate it any time between 3.00 p.m. on the Thursday and lunch time on the Friday immediately preceding the event. If you’re entering a tree as an organisation or business please feel free to use it as a means of advertising your organisation by decorating the tree in an appropriate theme.
Behind the Speaker’s Chair – Friday 19th
An evening of political commentary from Quentin Letts (The Times) and Jason Beattie (Daily Mirror) in St Mary’s Church, Friday 19th November, 6.30pm
Jason Beattie, the Political Editor for the Daily Mirror and great grandson of former St. Mary’s Rector Ernest Beattie, 1926-1936, will join How Caple’s own Quentin Letts, the political sketch writer for The Times, for an opinionated discussion of current events and Q&A evening moderated by St Mary’s own unopinionated (for the evening) Professor Adrian Kendry, former NATO Senior Economist. All proceeds go to the upkeep and enhancement of Ross-on-Wye’s Parish Church. Wine and refreshments will be available.
