St Mary’s Church

The reordered nave of St Mary’s is available for hire for a surprising variety of purposes. Try us! It offers:

  • A large flexible space capable of supporting a range of configurations.
  • The town’s best space! Certainly the oldest – a great atmosphere.
  • Chairs are available to seat 270 people, the capacity of the building is considerably greater than that if additional seating is brought in.
  • 8 round tables that can seat up to 6 and various gopak tables allow for at least 100 to be seated at tables.
  • Accessible toilets with baby changing facilities.
  • Disabled access is available into the building which is then level.
  • Catering facilities (Hot drinks, fridge, dishwasher, serving area, potential to support outside caterers) and glasses, crockery and cutlery for 100.
  • Audiovisual resources available.
  • Enclosed, but fully visible children’s room is available for small creche.
  • “Green room” provision is possible in the area under the tower (please discuss with us) or Markye Chapel on the south side of the building.
  • Free Wi-Fi is available.
  • Ample parking is available within easy walking distance, on-street and in designated car parks.
  • A limited number of disabled parking spaces are available in the churchyard and shared with delivery / organisers’ vehicles (please discuss requirements and access with us).

When booking to use the church or St Mary’s Hall (below) you’ll need to accept the

The current charge for hiring the church is £30 per hour (9.00am – 5.00pm) / £40 per hour (5.00pm – 11.00pm) Full charges here Once a booking is accepted, we’ll send you an invoice.

St Mary’s Hall

St Mary’s Hall offers a smaller facility for hire and is a popular venue used by many organisations in the town throughout the week. It offers:

  • A flexible space capable of supporting a range of configurations.
  • Chairs are available to seat 60 people, that is the capacity of the building.
  • Many gopak tables are available in a variety of sizes.
  • Toilets with baby changing facilities.
  • Disabled access is available into the hall which is then level.
  • Kitchen and serving area (hot drinks, domestic cooker, fridge)
  • Audiovisual resources available.
  • Free Wi-Fi is available.
  • Ample parking is available within easy walking distance, on-street and in designated car parks.
  • A limited number of disabled parking spaces are available in the churchyard and shared with delivery / organisers’ vehicles (please discuss requirements and access with us).
  • A small first floor meeting room (access by stairs only) may also be available for hire.
