The summer began and ended with our season of monthly Wednesday lunchtime concerts with audiences of between 60 and 100 attending each concert.

The choir had a busy summer, the adults taking Choral Evensong to some of our Deanery Churches, while the youth choir gave their own “end of term” concert, Finally, everyone visited Bath Abbey to sing services for a weekend in August.

D-Day commemorations, discovering “Tales from the Tombs” and a walk on the Malverns followed by lunch were just some of the things we got up to over the summer. 16 artists exhibited in St Mary’s in September, bringing with them over 1,000 visitors to the church. The Hedgehog Fayre was another highlight of the summer.

As the summer draws to a close, the whole benefice came together at Walford to celebrate Harvest. It was a real treat for the Ross “townies” to experience a country harvest festival in a church surrounded by farms. A wonderful spread washed down with juice from Walford apples followed in St Mary’s but we were too busy enjoying our lunch that no-one took any photos – unless of course, you know better!
