Annual Church Meetings 2024

Spring is the time of year for Annual Parish Meetings. They take place as detailed below.

St Mary’s, Ross

St Mary’s Annual Church Meetings takes place on Tuesday 21st May 2024 at 7.00 pm in St Mary’s Church.

So, what happens?
Come early for a glass of wine ready to begin at 7pm. Firstly, we elect two churchwardens.
Is this a task you might like, if not this year, perhaps in the future?

Then what?
The main meeting begins.  While the agenda looks rather long, it all happens very quickly as everyone will have had the opportunity to read all the reports beforehand (here or in a booklet).
We elect the PCC. If you are interested in what we do at St Mary’s, have ideas or wish to be more involved, the PCC could be for you. 
Find someone to nominate you and someone else to second you and put your form into the box or hand to the PCC Secretary. Make sure this is done before the meetings begin.
Don’t forget that to be a member of the PCC you must be on the Electoral Roll.

THE ROLE OF OUR PCCS IN TAKING FORWARD OUR VISION

As we enter a period of interregnum, the role of the PCC (Parochial Church Council) becomes more important than ever. It is vital for us to respond to God’s call to inspire faith, hope and love in our communities as the problems in our world seem to increase and we continue to grapple with significant economic, psychological, social, and spiritual issues.  As the Church of England, it is our special role to care for and inspire all people in our communities and add value to their lives.
Leadership is necessary for churches to make visions a reality, and our PCCs are important bodies for leading the shared vision of the Ross Parishes forward.
As part of the Church of England, PCCs have particular legal structures and ways of working that are laid down to help everyone work together well and to fulfil the responsibilities PCCs and office holders have.
Please do pray for PCC members, and as we elect new or returning PCC members and please also consider, “is God calling you?” to offer your gifts and skills to your PCC in the year ahead. If you have any questions, or would like a conversation, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Walford

Walford Annual Church Meetings took place on Monday 18th March 2024, at 7.30 pm in Walford Church.

Brampton Abbotts

Brampton Annual Church Meetings took place on Wednesday 17th April 2024, at 11.00 am in Brampton Abbotts Village Hall.

Electoral Rolls

The Electoral Roll has to be revised each year at this time (from scratch every six years). It’s also a requirement that the existing roll is published (names only) for at least 15 days prior to the meeting. Please see below for those details.

This is the church’s register of its members; a list of those qualified to attend and to vote on a number of Church matters (locally and nationally).

Further detailed information on electoral rolls can be found on the Church of England website.

Renewal of the electoral roll takes place every six years (next renewal is in 2025). In a year of renewal, no names are carried over from the old roll and everyone must make a new application to be included on the new roll.
