It’s an exciting time in the Ross parishes. Having recently appointed a new Rector we are now seeking to appoint two more new people to the team. These are:

  • A LifeLink Chaplain
  • A House for Duty Priest (Walford)

We are keen to be creative about both these posts. It’s great to be able to advertise the two together and we think that may make them more appealing to more people, possible couples. On offer between the two posts are:

  • A full time post for a non-ordained or ordained person, working with our local high school, the deanery and Ross Parishes
  • A part time post for a priest
  • A home in Walford Vicarage (or financial remuneration if the house is not required)

Interviews will take place in March 2025.

LifeLink Chaplain

This is an exciting new full time post which would suit someone with an infectious Christian faith, enthusiasm and energy. The chaplain will enjoy working with young people in school, church and home/community settings and have a pioneering mindset. During term time, the chaplain will normally work a core of three days a week in John Kyrle High School, the one secondary school in Ross-on-Wye. The other two days of the week will focus on growing connections between school + church + homelife of young people and their families in the ‘Hub’ market town of Ross-on-Wye, based at St Mary’s Anglican Church, and in two small strategic rural locations in the wider school catchment area /Anglican deanery around Ross-on-Wye. This post is part of a wider ‘Life Link’ Project to link school + church + homelife/community from primary through secondary school and beyond.

House for Duty Priest (Walford)

This post of part-time Associate Minister (two and half days plus Sundays) would suit a creative, mission-hearted, energetic and prayerful priest who enjoys working collaboratively and has a passion for intergenerational mission and ministry in a rural setting.

It is potentially a very flexible post and the person appointed could combine this role with childcare or other caring responsibilities, with further study, work in secular employment or another church role, or it might be attractive to someone about to retire or recently retired. And because we’re recruiting another post, we are open to further flexibility depending of the circumstances of applicants.
