At 6.00 pm today there will be a compilation service of Choral Evensong for Easter Day created from archive and some new material: https://rawchurch.org.uk/digital-services.
… or Easter Eve. The day when Christ rested in the sealed tomb.
Normally, this day is not at all restful in our church buildings which are a frenzy of activity from cleaners, flower arrangers, altar frontal changers, musicians in rehearsal … for Easter Day tomorrow.
This year our churches are empty and locked and we can take more of a rest.
As we do so here are a couple of musical offerings. One from our Organist, Adrian Taylor, recorded at his home this week, the other from our choir, recorded in Hereford Cathedral 20 years ago, it also happens to be a piece that featured in the last service in St Mary’s in March.
We are back tomorrow with a Eucharist for Easter day at 9.30 am and a specially compiled Easter Day Choral Evensong at 6 pm – both are taking shape on our website: https://rawchurch.org.uk/digital-services.
… the most solemn day in the Church year, the day on which Jesus was crucified.
Today we offer a beautifully constructed series of resources for personal meditation which include prayers, paintings and artwork, music from St Mary’s Choir archive and meditations. You can use as much of it as you wish at any time during the day. Begin your journey at:
You may be aware that we’re planning to replace the church floodlighting with something that works and is much cheaper to run. As part of the planning process we need to ask if there are any comments people wish to make to the proposal. Please let us know if this is the case, or reply as indicated in the planning notice. This needs to be done before 4th May.
Prebendary Caroline Pascoe is about to lead a short service of Night Prayer. To join in head over to our website https://rawchurch.org.uk/holy-week-and-easter-2020 where you’ll find an order of service to download and a link to join the service via Zoom. Oh, and a candle would be nice.
Live on the website now at https://rawchurch.org.uk/digital-services is Revd Colin Leggate’s walk around parts of the town with thoughts on Palm Sunday, our local community and our current crisis.
Please note that Zoom have changed their security settings today. If you are hoping to join us for Virtual Coffee at 10.30 you will need the password 422974.
You will also find yourself in a waiting room when you join. If we recognise you we’ll let you in!
We are going to try to control the session this week by asking people
The Community Larder continues to operate on a Tuesday morning, we are serving people outside, to minimise personal contact, and offering prepacked bags to make the process quicker and more efficient. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of many local restaurants, pubs and shops who have sadly had to temporarily close down, but have given us large quantities of fresh produce.
At present we have not noticed a significant increase in demand for the Larder, although we are of course aware that this may happen as the current situation continues.
We have had a number of kind enquiries about making a financial donation and this can be done on line direct to the Ross Community Larder Bank Account;

And of course, and most importantly, our sincere thanks for your prayerful support at this challenging time.
If you want to pop something in the collection you can do that too (though if you’re a regular we’d really encourage you to look at the Parish Giving Scheme):
And while we can’t easily give you flowers for your mum, here’s a reminder of last year’s:
